ALLOTMENTS IN WITNESHAM

There are two allotment sites in the village, one in Hall Lane beside the River Finn, and one in Cooper’s Close (below).

Fresh air hobby!

The Hall Lane site has two allotments of 5 roods each. These are currently let.

The Cooper’s Close site has 11 allotments – 9 of 7 roods each, and 2 of 10 roods. As at July 2008, there are 4 plots vacant.

If anyone is interested in starting an allotment and growing their own vegetables (very healthy and cheap!), please contact Parish Councillor Mrs Anne Camp at heatherdene@freebie.net or 01473 785383.

The soil is typical Suffolk clay, and huts may be erected on plots, which currently cost £5 per annum to rent. The rent is due for review in November 2008.

Some rotovation will be necessary on taking over a new plot, and it should be noted that there is no water supply at either of the allotment sites.
